[So Elric managed to injure Buffy during the weekend's kerfuffle. Now that he's back to normal, he's not happy with himself, because, well, that triggered all his "woe I killed my fiancée" stuff. And now the jerk has finally gotten it together to apologise.]

Buffy—if you do not wish to speak with me, it is within your rights. I behaved shamefully toward you, and though I was not in my right mind, that is little excuse. Please assure me, however, that you are well. I am grateful to you for preventing me from doing greater harm than I did.

[She's still looking a little worse for wear, but most of her scrapes and bruises have disappeared. The remaining ones are minor. She's almost done healing.] Don't be so dramatic. [Little smile.] It wasn't your fault. Also, happy I got to you before you did any real damage. If I had a quarter for every time a friend of mine turned evil and I had to stop them.. [Little pause.] I'd have a lot of quarters.

[Slightly more serious time!] I'm.. Good. Better, anyway.

[Elric turns on the video display a little reluctantly, and he's looking a little extra-battered himself, having let Arthas beat the crap out of him for his sins.]

A quarter? [Modern American monetary terms, you confuse the pseudomedieval sorcerer.]

Well, your forgiveness means much to me. I have hurt so many close to me, and it would have grieved me to add another name to that list.

Oh! Uh, quarters! Money. Little silver coins. [Pause.] It's a lame expression anyway.

Well, you did ruin my shirt. But it got more-ruined over the events of the day, so.. [Buffy looks at him and quirks an eyebrow in confusion.] I didn't do all that. What happened?

[Elric can't help smiling at that.] Ah, of course. Nay, there is naught silly about it; there are similar expressions everywhere that there is money, and possibly even where there is not.

[He puts a hand to his bruised cheekbone and has the grace to look slightly abashed.] A sparring match with Arthas. It was a good and fair fight.
